Thos. Moser was hired by Duke University to consult in the development of an exclusive new product line for the library. Key to the process was the notion that we would bridge the past with the future. As a LEED certified project, our company was chosen not only for the nature of our hallmark solid wood products, but also our green business practices. The incorporation of glass and stone, although out of the ordinary for Thos. Moser, was worked seamlessly into the designs.

Timeless, custom-designed library furniture balances the warmth of wood with contemporary glass screening

Duke’s beautiful old Perkins Library building was updated with a great marriage of materials as the architects challenged us with their vision of mixed media furnishings. Our library furniture design incorporated solid cherry wood construction with a hand-rubbed oil and wax finish, combined with edgier frosted glass, stainless steel and stone. 

The finer details for this school library furniture include:
