For the Moser Contract team, the story of the Pacific Chair is a familiar one. The project came to life during our conversations with a prospective installation client. Faced with the need to update furniture in several library branches – with design aesthetics ranging from traditional to contemporary – the client envisioned a chair that would complement and augment the aesthetics of nearly any environment.
The gauntlet was thrown, and we went to work. Based on client input, we looked to traditional Japanese forms for design inspiration – pairing those influences with modern western lines to arrive at a simple, functional form that firmly embraced the Thos. Moser aesthetic. The Moser Contract team took the project from discussions to sketches before embarking on a series of prototype refinements. And at the end of two intensive weeks, the Pacific Chair was born: an elegantly simple, exceptionally durable piece well suited to continuous use, and versatile enough to enhance the design of any environment, without clamoring for the spotlight.
With the prospective client’s blessing, we’re now making the Pacific Chair available as a standard Moser Contract offering. Crafted in a wide variety of fine hardwoods, this new offering is available with either an upholstered or an unupholstered seat. Depending on the selected material, the Pacific Chair is available in several finishes, each designed to withstand the rigors of regular use.
While the Pacific Chair is the embodiment of a Thos. Moser piece in form, function and beauty – it tells an even more compelling story about our capabilities. As a small manufacturer, Thos. Moser has the unique ability to move quickly, addressing every step of the development process with efficiency and determination. But once our design and development team complete their work, we also have the capacity to meet production demands – moving seamlessly from inspiration to installation without losing sight of client demands and our own high standards.
