Alongside classics like the Thos. Moser Continuous Arm ChairTM, Thos. Moser is proud to present the Cooper chair, the first chair in the Thos. Moser portfolio created specifically as an office chair. Designed by award winning industrial designer, Brian Kane of Kane Design San Francisco, the Cooper chair will take the company into an exciting new realm in the contract marketplace.
Thos. Moser and Brian Kane partnered to create an office chair that is functional and beautiful with the highest quality craftsmanship. The chair’s shell is the sum of individual steam-bent and shaped solid wood members coopered and joined to become a single form. This unique process employs both hi-tech computerized machining and time-tested skilled handwork; a combination that is a testament to the commitment to the object itself.
“We are happy to be unveiling Cooper at NeoCon,” says Adam Rogers, Director of Design and Product Development at Thos. Moser. “Brian Kane is an accomplished and respected designer with tremendous experience in the contract market. As such, he brings a new and invaluable perspective to Thos. Moser. His respect for our commitment to craft through design is evident in this chair. We are confident that Cooper is a solid representation of how craft and design can be united for the sake of quality, regardless of market or scale of the project.”
Appropriate for a variety of environments, from workstations to conference rooms to home offices, Cooper’s comfort and flexibility through configuration will accommodate the user’s intentions. The high-grade aniline leather upholstered foam cushions are supported by an ergonomic solid wood shell which makes the chair ideal for both short meetings and long days at the computer. In addition to its sturdy, hand-crafted shell, Cooper is available in both high back and low back, with or without arms and a five star base with castors or stationary feet. Of special note, each shell is handmade by a skilled craftsman at the Thos. Moser workshop in Maine assembling and signing each chair as a seal of quality.
Simple in form but ambitious in construction and detailing, Cooper embodies the modern craft aesthetic for which Thos. Moser is known. Cooper is made with solid American hardwoods that are all sustainably harvested from North American forests utilizing the industry’s strictest practices.
